The Subscription Boxes I'm Going To Miss The Most While Living Abroad

The subscription box trend has made every week feel like Christmas for me. Getting to come home after a long day to find a box full of goodies can easily brighten any day. And unlike coming home to just ordinary online shopping boxes - you are able to trick yourself into feeling like you are getting a great deal (and sometimes you are!). Goodies AND a bargain? The best of all worlds, right?

This past week I have begun cancelling all of my current subscriptions as 1) they do not ship to France 2) I need to tighten my budget with this pending move. Here are the subscription boxes I am going to miss the most:

Le Tote

As a loyal Le Tote user for two and half years, I was most sad to see this one go. Le Tote operates  like a Netflix service for your wardrobe - an wide selection of options that you can wear and return at your leisure. The algorithm will make recommendations based on items you put in your "closet" (i.e. your favorites list) but you have the full control to customize each box allowing for immense flexibility depending on what you need clothes for.

This service was ideal for me: I hate clothes shopping, and when I do manage to go I am more likely to come home with an all glitter leopard print gown than a pair of basic black pants (*based on a true story). My wardrobe, as a result, is a huge mashup of fabulous pieces...with very little to actually wear daily to the office. Le Tote helped to fix that. I could get complete outfits, or pieces that helped bring new life to clothing I already owned. I also found that my subscription helped save me money in the long-term and allowed me to try current trends without supporting the detrimental "fast-fashion" industry. If you are able to stay organized and return items once you wear them (I was averaging about 1 box a week) and keep away from the temptation of keeping every item - this could be a great option that will allow you to experiment with your style and save money.

Rachel Zoe Box Of Style

Receiving this quarterly box was not just like Christmas morning - it was like waking up on Christmas morning to discover a gift wrapped unicorn under the tree! It was the best. At $100 a pop, it is a pricey way to spoil yourself - but it is one of the few subscription boxes where I used everything in that box on a daily basis. From this box I have received some of my favorite pieces of jewelry and discovered beauty products that have been game changing. It has definitely upped my chic level, and I would highly recommend if you are looking for a fun splurge.

Play! by Sephora

A list of favorite subscription boxes felt incomplete without a beauty box. Having experimented with the full spectrum of beauty box service, it was Play! by Sephora that made it to the very end.

It is no secret that I am a big Sephora fan. Okay, that's a lie - I'm a Sephora addict. It got to the point where I had to delete the app off my phone because I would casually buy expensive face masks on my commute without thinking twice about it. At its price point of $10, I like that Play! by Sephora offers name brand samples in products I am highly likely to want to try or purchase. Another huge plus to beauty boxes: Always having great travel size products to bring!
